so we have had this big guys here for going on two years hes considered ex large for a jack dempsey. where wanting to know the sex. and would love to hear you guys opinion. thanks :-?

VERY tough to call from that shot. It KINDA looks male to us but its not 100%

i just bought a JD today, its only about 1 1/2 inch long.

The fins not being elongated mean nothing - fin length is not an accurate way to sex these fish.

It is a female, but because of the gill markings as mentioned. The fin length in coincidental.
