Is this striping normal for a 2 inch peacock?

Some of the stripes do not go from top to bottom, normal or would this be indicative of poor breeding? Also, this was sold as a German Red, does the orange coloring coming in point towards this being a male?

I had thought the same regarding the striping, glad to have that confirmed. As far as where I got these from, I am afraid to say that it was from a very reputable online seller from this site :( Hopefully they turn out to be male, as these are only for a show tank, not for breeding. Plus these guys had just came out of the bag when I took the photos, so hopefully they will color up more soon.
