Some of the stripes do not go from top to bottom, normal or would this be indicative of poor breeding? Also, this was sold as a German Red, does the orange coloring coming in point towards this being a male?

To me, that fish is not of breeding caliber. The broken stripes are more abnormal than I would tolerate.

Pet fish quality. Could be a male, but you didn't mention size. If it's small, then I'd guess male.

likely a male, though with these line bred peacocks that is not anything more than a 55% probability.

where did u get that fish? ....all my GM red should alot of color than that when they were 2"

I had thought the same regarding the striping, glad to have that confirmed. As far as where I got these from, I am afraid to say that it was from a very reputable online seller from this site Hopefully they turn out to be male, as these are only for a show tank, not for breeding. Plus these guys had just came out of the bag when I took the photos, so hopefully they will color up more soon.
