I was told when I bought this from Gerber in Ohio that these were Red Tapajo. Every picture I have found of young Tapajos don't look like these. I have never seen them sift sand yet. So are they or are they not?

Astatotilapia aeneocolor is found in Lake Edward (lake Dweru) and the Kazinga channel. https://www.fishbase.de/summary/haplochromis-aeneocolor.html. The kazinga channel runs between Lake George and lake Edward.

Astatotilapia aeneocolor from the satellite lakes in the Victorian basin
A satellite lake usually refers to a small lake or swamp that is very close by and attached to a larger lake. Lake Edward is over 230 miles from lake Victoria and really doesn't have a lot to do with lake Victoria. Neither lake Edward nor the Kazinga channel are part of the Victoria basin. https://www.researchgate.net/figure...ent-area-including-major-towns_fig1_262371637

A. aeneoclor, like many Haplochromine cichlids, are however, often referred to as Victorian cichlids in the aquarium hobby, as part of a general grouping.

Anyways, just meant to point out that many of are so called Victorian cichlids in the hobby are similar to cichlids from lake Victoria ......but really don't have any thing to do with lake Victoria , itself.
