I have a Rio 180 with a built in filter and my fish have all died due to the heater over heating so i'm in the process of cleaning it out and looking to change the system by using a external heater and filter.

Will the Hydor ETH External Heater and Tetratec EX700 be compatible with the tubing etc and run fine alongside each other?

So to get this right in my head

Hydor ETH External Heater 200 is a 12mm pipe
Hydor ETH External Heater 300 is a 16mm pipe

And the inlet Hose on the tetratec ex700 is 11.3mm ?

So even though th hose is a little bigger on the Hydor 200 (12mm) the Ex700(11.3) would still fit fine?

Thank you.

You will find 11.3 mm and 12mm to be almost identical.

As long as you use clamps to make sure everything is secure you should be good.

I'm not sure what kind of tubing the Tetratec EX700 uses, but you might consider swapping it out for some 12mm from a hardware store.

if you have trouble getting the hose to slip onto the pipes on the heater just soak the end of the hose for a few seconds in a cup of just boiled water to soften it.
