I bought a tank and filter for a ridiculous price a few months back, but there was a catch. I had to take the fish that were in the tank. I have identified all the fish but one. This hybrid, which I assume it is, eludes me. When I got it, the fish was silvery gray, but is now showing some impressive colour.

I was wondering if anyone has an idea what species it may have come from. This fish is in a tank where no fry will be distributed, so there is no issue there.

It does very much resemble a Gephyrochromis moorii in some of the pics I was able to find. I don't know if this fish has a deformed mouth, but the upper jaw extends further than the lower and the head shape seems a little wrong.

Thanks for your help!

In this species the upper lip does extend a bit futher than the lower. It seems spot on to me. I've kept this species before (quite awhile ago and not for a long time), but it seems to resemble what I remember them looking like.
