Hi,
I've managed to breed my first cichlid about 4 days ago.

I just have a few questions about how to look after them and general info.

The pair are the solo occupants (apart from the fry) in a 70 gallon tank. How long can I leave the fry with the parents for? I would ideally like to keep them with the parents until they are big enough to sell to LFS, is this possible?

Also I have what appears to be around 30-50 fry, so hard to count, for firs time parents is this a reasonable brood amount?

HRP's have smaller broods than convicts. Your fry sound normal. the parents will take care of them, then once free swimming they will take them around the tank in a school. I remove the fry about a week after free swimming. You could try letting the parents raise the fry, if they disapear they will spawn again and you will know to take the fry out if you want to raise them. They get better each time they spawn, usually the first isnt the most successful.
