Just wondering how everyone is setting up their rena xp2 without using carbon. Right now i use 2 course pads and 2 fine pads in the bottom container. Then the next container i had the star media and then carbon on top of that with the microfiber white pad on top of that.

I set up my XP4 with Eheim mechanical media in the bottom, the coarse Rena pads, then the finer ones, the the bio stars... and that's it. I don't bother with the carbon bags or microfiber pad. I find that the micro pad clogs pretty easily relative to the other stuff.

I just use the sponges that came with it and some filter pad from my LFS. Carbon doesn't fit under my aquatic budget.

I doubled up on filter floss where you have yours. Bulk roll that gets cut to fit.
