How many and what ratio of Cyps in 6' 150 ?

Hi,

I'll be buying some (non-jumbos) cyps soon, and was wondering how much would be a good fit for my tank. It's 6'x2'x1.7'. I originally thought about going with 15 but am now wondering if going up to maybe 20-25 would be okay. What do you think ?

The other inhabitants are 4 C. foae (should grow to 8 soon, 2/6), 4 N. buescheri and 2 N. calvus.

Also, about the male/female ratio, I've seen different opinions here and there, ranging from 1m/5f to 1-2m/1f on larger groups, so i'm not sure what to think. Would be cool to have a 1:1 ratio for sure, considering it's ok for the fish.

Thanks,
Vincent

I have 8 foai and 16 cyps in my 180.
I might have bought a few more cyps but that is all the seller had.
16 was not too many. I'd like 25.
Turns out for me, I have way more males but it is not a problem. Mine were juveniles at the time so I did not know gender.
IF you are buying adults and want to breed them, try for 50-50.
If you don't care about fry you could go heavier on the males. They color up nice and don't injure each other in a big tank.
PS - I don't know about the 4 N. buescheri and 2 N. calvus. I am breeding my two groups and don't want other fish in there.

No, I'm not planning to keep the fry, but I do want the foae to be as cool as possible.

Both species seemed to have a grief against the foae before they matured sexually. Now they're mostly ignoring each other.

Sometimes, buescheri's get angry when a foae comes too close but it's not an issue right now as the foae do not seem to fear them at all (courting foae males of course kick buescheri's ass every time they try to intimidate them ;)).
Just got myself 25 nice 1-2" F1 Cyps from a local hobbyist (for 70€, about 100 USD). :D :thumb:
It's been my first time buying from a fellow hobbyist and I must say it was great. The guy was really nice, and of course we chatted a bit while checking his (really cool) tanks. Must do that again for sure (price was great too compared with local shops).

Unfortunately I lost one female last night due (i think) to aggression. :(
The buescheri in the tank are pretty hard on them right now since I couldn't rearrange their part of the tank, which is a BG attached in the back of the tank, and just have a few rocks apart from that. I'm really hoping the buescheri's will cool off with time though i should maybe have added them all as juveniles. Now that the tank has been pretty empty for some time, they really got used to hold their positions strongly.
But apart from that, they seem to like their new house very much, which is great. :D

There's only 9 confirmed males accounted for right now, but there's some juveniles in the group too so I'm hoping to see a couple more pop up soon. :dancing:
A few females (at least 4, but haven't really had time to check) are holding too.

Happy me :D
