I have a total of 6 ruby greens in a 40B. My problem is I’m not sure how many males I really have as only the boss(full color) and a sub male that has some color but mostly silver. Now here and there I’ll see some of the others show black pectoral fins like a male or will chase the sub male

I think they are to small to vent. They are roughly 1.5-2” long and 8 months old. Super slow growth because I had my fry over stocked in a 10g mixed with yellow labs and didn’t keep up with frequent water changes.

Lost a bunch of the ruby fry to bloat but would like to try again with fry and get these to breed.

How could I get the rest of the males to show color or how could I sex them so I can remove males to hopefully get a proper ratio?

Remove the colored male and see who colors next. Rinse and repeat until there are no more fish that color.

Well usually you would vent them. Males have 2 openings at the vent same size oo. Females have different sized openings Oo.
