I want to setup a 20g long tank in my dining room. I have an extra emperor 280 I can use on it. I would like some suggestions on what fish I could use and how to set it up. I know its personal preference but if you could do this how would you? I've kept africans in the past and now have a 55g JD tank. Im open to all suggestions. I would like some active personable colorful fish. I dont know what dwarf/smaller fish I could use for this. Help me setup a nice tank! :fish:

A shell dweller community would also work very well in a 20L. Shellies are small, somewhat active quirky little fish. They are a lot of fun to watch and are fairly easy to keep. I would look at the 20L cookie cutter setups with shellies, they provide ALOT of activity and will never outgrow the tank. Here is the data

This is what I would go with, I have a setup VERY similar to it and enjoy it alot.
• Julidochromis regani - 1 pair
• Neolamprologus leleupi - 1 pair
• 'Lamprologus' occelatus - 1 trio

But here is the link to that page,

Also, here is a very good article that made me want to pick up a set of these guys, something I have never regretted

Good luck!

You will have to get plants that can tolerate high ph levels. Java Moss, and Vals are two that I know of, but I'm sure there are more.

Honestly, with proper decoration you don't need plants. In fact, in some situations they can be quite the nuisance. My shelly tank is a light sand and some light rocks, it looks fairly nice and its a twenty long. I can try to get some pictures for you tonight if you really want.
