So i have had a jaguar cichlid for a while and ever since *** had it, it just sits at the bottom of the tank, and only comes up to eat. It also "breathes" rapidly (gills move quite fast). Now recently *** watched videos on youtube of jags and they are moving about the tank. Can someone please tell we what to do? I plan on adding more tankmates but i wanna make sure this ones ok first.

Also my jag does have a small case of hole in the head. could this explain its behaviour?

My guess is that this is a water quality problem, but we need to know your water chemistry and water change habits before we can be helpful...

It may also be that the fish is over-eating. Try fasting him for a few days as we trouble-shoot water quality and other possibilities.
