hi all.i have a large piece of bogwood in my tank but 2 months on its still causing the water to tan despite doing weekly water changes[ 30 percent ] dose anyone know how long i can expect this to last. dont want to use charcoal as it will interfere with ph treatment,i would be grateful for any advice many thanks

Bogwood? Did you get it from a bog, or is it drift wood that you bought from a retailer? If it's not rotten, you can boil it for a few hours. That will get most of the tannins out. I had a South american setup with driftwood, and the water was still stained after a year.

That's right, it can take a long, long, time. You can use something like Purigen while you're waiting, if it can't be boiled.

If you bought it from the store it could take as much as 2 years! Also makes the water acidic I think, but not sure, I'm new to this but that's what I was told.

Sorry in the U.K we call driftwood (Bogwood) Same thing

I should have boiled it first, I will put some carbon in the filter and hopefully that will help.
