Hi,

You want to unplug your filters before the power comes back on just in case the beneficial bacteria has died. You'll need to rinse all media out in a bucket of declorinated water once the power comes back on.

What do you have for a declorinator? You want one that will remove ammonia and detoxify nitrite. If the power is still off after 24 hours then add some declorinator. Put it in a large bucket of tank water first and then pour it in. This will help to oxygenate the water. You might even fill the bucket up several times with tank water through out the day and then pour it back in to help with the 02.

Don't feed your fish during the power outage. They can go for several weeks without food so there's no concern there. Without filtration you don't want the added waste from the food fouling your water.

Make sure you've got some good test kits on hand. Once your tank is running again you're going to want to test for ammonia and nitrite daily for several weeks since it's possible that your tank will re-cycle.

If you notice your fish breathing hard anytime try doing a partial water change ASAP with a good quality declorinator. Don't touch the gravel, though.

Hope your power is back on soon.
