Haplochromis sp. "red back scraper" is an algae grazer that is now believed to be extinct in the wild. Populations in the hobby were collected in 1991 and have not been seen in the wild since. In the aquarium, they constantly forage for food around rocks and gravel. They are often observed picking aglae off live plants without causing damage to the leaves.
