I got 4 new Jack Dempseys today all around 2 inches maybe less. Can anyone tell me about there personalitys, are they a smart fish???

Jd's are rather skitish fish when young. But as they get bigger and older they start to be a very personable cichlid and also can rather be aggressive as their name suggests. Although I have heard a lot about their aggression and they actually aren't as bad as they used to be from what I understand.
