Hi all

A breeding pair of striped Cons gave some hundred fry some weeks ago..
They all going fine on crushed flakes..

Is it normal that almost half of the babies turned out pink?

Thanks for a reply

It just means that they carry the gene for pink convicts. If about half of them are pink I would hazard a guess that they both had one pink parent.

Getting roughly same-aged pink fry tonight! (mine were born first weekish of April)

Hopefully I can get a few mixed sets come out of this experiment.

After reading fishguy's post on cross breeding fry, got me thinking of doing something similar.
Ill post pics if anything happens.
*NOTE*
Do the pinkies get the same color on their bellies - IDing them as female?
or
Just wait till they get around an inch and look at their fin length?

At 1 inch i guess it would be hardly possible to sex...

Even at adult size it has difficult for me...some breeding pairs were so similar..

Pink convict females get that same orange/red belly as their black counterparts.
