good filter to use with sand?

I'm setting up a 75 gallon soon and probably going with Crayola play sand as a substrate. (As you probably read in my other thread ). I'm planning on getting some type of earth eater, more than likely the biotodoma cupido I fell in love with, if it's still there by the time I am cycled and ready. I know he will be doing a lot of sandsifting and kicking up the sand. I was planning on doing an aquaclear 110 for a filter. Will the sand be a problem or am I better off with a canister? I know nothing about canisters by the way so any info would help. Thanks :)

I would go with the filter you like to use most. From there I might add a sponge Pre-filter just stuck over the intake of the filter. The sponge should then catch the sand if the big guys decide to spit that way. Tie the sponge on so they can't get it off.

Good idea thanks!
