[cichlid king]

I bought a eel that the pet store claimed was rare. It is suppose to come from Lake Tanganyika. It is gold with a brown speckled pattern. I have only seen it using a flashlight at night. I have had it for about a month. Does anyone know anything about this eel? :-?

sounds to me you got a tire track eel.. from the way u detail it. can you post a pic of it?

It is does then it is indeed a Tire Track Eel (Mastacemelus armatus)

No, I have seen a tire track. On mine the pattern is more broken up and it has gold specks? I'll try to get a picture tonight. He's hard to catch out.
