Originally described as a sub-species of 'G.' brasiliensis, 'G.' iporangensis is now clessified as a species in its own right. 'G.' iporangensis is more elongate and the head is longer and more pointed. It can only be assumed that this fish behaves and can be kept much like 'G.' brasiliensis. Males get much larger than females.
