I successfully stripped two females (Saulosi and Perlmutt). Ended up with about 20 fry (10 per fish).

Question: not sure I was able to strip all the fry. Any tips on how to know if she is still holding fry?

Question: what is mortality rate of stripped females? Will be upset if the stripping process results in high mortality rate. I stripped the fry because the females were becoming very thin.

Question: typically, how long until the female bears another batch of fry?

Question: on average, how many fry will female hold each time? 8-10? 10-12? 12-15? My females are not fully grown. Saulosi was approximately 2 in, Perlmutt 2.25 in. Can't imagine such a small fish holding more than 10 fry.

Question: what Is standard mortality rate for fry?

1-Look in her mouth. If she is eating, they are probably all out.
2-Rare that a stripped female dies
3-Females can bear every six weeks but mine usually takes longer
4-depending on the species, 20 fry are average
5-Rare that any fry die among mbuna. Tangs like cyps or calvus are a different story.
