Has this ever happened to anybody?
I was in the room at work where I have my 6 foot frontosa tank. I heard a thump and looked over and there was a 9 inch frontosa on the shelf by the tank. It must have soared upward and hit the 4 inch by 24 inch glass (not plastic) hinged top, escaped, and then the top came back down.
I quickly grabbed a net and put her back in the tank, no worse for wear. I have had small fish escape out of slits in the back of the tank, but never in this fashion.

 never heard of them actually opening a top lid during their flight but a 9"
fronts is big and should theoritically be able to do it with enough momentum.

very interesting story though. those 24x4" lid are very light to. i just purchased one for my 75g and was surprise how light they were. however, i dont think they can open the ones in my 125g with a heavier and thicker 36x4" lid.

Never happened to mine...yet.

So did the hump on the head of that fish stay bigger after the bump?
Maybe that is why they all have humps!
My lid was not the original for that tank so I think it may be a lighter glass.
