I have a Burundi Front holding for the first time :thumb: The question is, should I let her hold and take a chance of her loosing them per say, or do I strip the eggs and tumble them??? I'm shocked because she is only 4" if that, and it's in a 90 gal tank, so I'm concerned with the fact that there are 5 fish in there 2 males 3 females.

Opinions will vary on this but I'd strip after 72 hours and tumble.

Good Luck, Russ

If it's her first time and you want fry,in my opinion I would strip them. I made the mistake of letting a female hold for a week and she swallowed them.It was her first time. I really wanted some fry!!! :(

Well, the eggs were bad :( shriveled up in the tumbler. On a good note my alpha male is shaking and shimmying to all the ladies in the tank! So maybe soon I'll have one holding again! :thumb:
Sorry :( They will only get better.

To keep the thread going a little bit... in situations where the holding mom is a recent wild caught import (especially within the first year), I would let her hold to term as she will most likely be a great momma. You'll need a crowbar to pry her mouth open.

If it is a wc female who has been in captivity for more than a year or two, I would strip as the holding instinct seems to get worse the longer they are in captivity.

Tank raised moms, I'd strip.

Just my two cents.

Hope that helps,
Russ
