Do any of the fry disappear?
In all honesty I'm not sure, I may have lost a few to the clown loaches... My T. brichardi ulwile had 1 fry a month ago and it has survived. I think if you give the little guys enough cover they pretty much know how to stay out of harms way until they are big enough...

how long does the female hold for?
30 days. I have 1 female that has been holding for almost 6 weeks, no lie! I thought about stripping her, but I figure she'll spit when she is ready or when the fry die. I'm not too worried about losing a couple fry because I'm overrun as it is

I have another female that released her fry at 3 weeks. This female is a good mom, she staked out a spot behind one of the sponge filters and gaurded the tiny fry for another 2 weeks.

Take a look...
