I have a 75 gallon tank with two breeding groups, one male and four female Sunshine Peacocks along with one male and three female Phenochilus Tanzania (star sapphire). I had two Emperor 400 with biowheels on the tank but recently bought an Eheim Pro 4+ 600 which i have been running with one of the Emperors to get the canister started up. Now that the canister has had time to get established I'm wondering if I can get away with taking off the remaining power filter. It is so much more noisy and it would be great to just have the canister if it is enough filter to keep these fish? Do really I need the extra power filter for the 75 gallon tank and nine fish? the star sapphires are not full grown, the male is maybe five inches.

What is the GPH of the filter you want to keep? I like 8X GPH but you can get away with 4X if you want to do more vacuuming.

it is rated as max 330gph. so, by your standard barely enough without the power filter running. good to know, thanks
