the female saulosi that i stripped is now hanging out near the eggtumbler where her 11 day old babies are trying to learn how to swim. she seems to watch them with interest. is it possible that she knows they are hers? Or is she just eyeing a good meal? I have a subdominant male in the tank that will try to eat them when he sees them swimming around. also since the biggest fish I have is 2" can i introduce the fry into the tank when they are like 1/2"?

They are a meal to her. It's usually better to wait until 1.5". By the time your fry are that big, your fish will be bigger too.
