I've fed my labs some lettuce that was previously washed and frozen in the freezer for a day.. it makes it softer for them to tear into. Just put it in a feeder clip.
I've also done raw cucumbers and they/the pleco fed on it for a bit. Just make sure to remove it after a day or it will become a slimy mess. To weight it down use some rocks.

I use frozen peas, romaine lettuce, and cucumber.

I boil them to get them soft, then cool them in cold water, chop the cucumber into tiny pieces.
and the peas i squeeze them to get the skins off. the lettuce i tear into small bits. I put only a little in at a time so it doesnt pollute the water if they dont eat it all.

Dont forget the salad dressing! (kidding)

My fish didn't like the frozen, maybe cause I never boiled them  . No need to boil if you use canned, I have luck with (must be unsalted) canned green beans, unsalted canned peas if I separate the insides from the shell, and fresh zucchini cut in half or in pieces and rubber banded to a rock. I've put in whole halfs of zucchini and there is never anything left over except skin, you can leave it in there for a day or two and its fine. Other then this I feed all my fish NLS cichlid pellet 1mm, 3mm, and also spirulina flakes. GL
