hi folks

currently, i have

2 yellow lab
2 bichardi
1 rusty
1 peacock
1 zebra obliquens
1 sydontis catfish

i was thinking of adding
1 acei
1 calvus or featherfin

some folks were say Calvus was a bad choice...
is the feather fin Cyathopharynx furcifer a good choice?
i read that it is quite big at 9inch and midly aggressive...

thanks

What are the dimensions of the tank? Doesn't sound big enough for a furcifer. Not sure how they do as singles or if they color up on their own or with tank mates like those.

A single featherfin would simply be a silver fish in your tank, not worth getting. The calvus is a better choice.

Note, if those brichardi pair up, you will have major problems in the tank.

hi foge

thanks for advice.

i already have 4 fishes from malawi
i was thinking to get a fish from tanga or victoria lake.

is Calvus or Fontosa better for my tank?

i keep Calvus before but they seems like slow grower and swimmers... was afraid that malawi might whack him? and he may not get enough food...

how about fontosa?
is it much better holding his own agaisnt malawi?

thanks

Simply put your tank is not big enough for a frontosa. Also they don't do well as a single. I wouldn't get anything that exceeds 6-7 inches for your tank. How about you try acei?

Well you have mostly malawi, why dont you want more malawi theres many options there.
Really depends what your aiming for. Do you want fish to breed, or just a nice looking tank that gets along. Most would say not to mix those species you have, mbuna, peacock, vics, and tangs all in a tank your size. I would look into species your interested in, check out this site for a few more days atleast at peoples tank set ups. Once you have a better idea we can help you more! :D

hi chunkanese,

my aim is to keep possibility african cichlids from all 3 lakes, malawi, victoria and tanga....
to keep a "peaceful" community african rift lake tank
i do not intend to breed them.

that's why i try to select fishes with lower aggression but still good color and behaviour.

victorians are diffcult to get here in singapore.
tangas are much more here...
malawis are also more here...
