I have some awesome looking fake plants from Michaels just wondering of the exposed metal wire ends could be problematic? Should I silicone the ends?

I would judge it safer to seal the ends if practical but I also think metal in the tank hazards may be over blown. Most metal degrades fairly slowly and if we do the normal amount of water changing that many cichlids require we dilute the potential pollution. Some chance of harm but then I feel there are many more dangerous things floating around to kill the fish. Nail polish, hair spray, deodorants and soap on our hands are just a start on the list so the metal is somewhat down on my list.

I've used exactly what you have with no ill effects on the fish. They rusted a bit, but contrary to what you may hear, rust is not harmful to fish.

If it concerns you, you can always remove the wire (the plants will still retain their shape) which will allow the plants to move with the water currents.
