hey guys, i have a pump that pumps 258 gph and i'm curious as to what to do with it...i've been debating (and currently trying) to boost my magnum 350's flow and put the pump in after the canister. this makes for pump over heat, everynow and then, so i am thinking that the water coming out of the magnum is simply to much for the pump and the impeller is moving to fast and causing the pump to overheat. this blows because it relly made the filter move a lot more water. Question i have is i can drop this pump in a bucket of water (which i can also use to grow snails to feeds my fahaka) and it keeps it cool enough to run constantly, is that a good enough fix? I hope so, but doubt it. Second idea: the the inlet of the pump into the bottom of my overflow (which is half full of lava rocks) and run the return through a spray bar? This option would still give me the biological benefit (right?)) and i'd get a spray bar for surface agitation (which i'm barely at the minimum at right now). any other ideas or input on these? thats for the help guys.

well, i ended up making it a spray bar, well to try at least, i submersed the actual pump in my lava rocks (careful to make sure none of the rocks got in it), then put some floss on top of the lava rocks to help polish the water for this pump ( the magnum has the polishing filter in it already. Then I ran the outlet to a spray bar on the other side of the tank so the current is towards the overflow. So far it's stirred up more **** than i knew was in there, so thats a good thing...once the filter does it's job at least. any comments on either setup?
