Hello

I have a 65G Tank with a sump with tons of bio media in the sump. The tank was up and running for 4 months with 15 fish before taking it down for a few days

I put all the media in a 5G pail, put a air bubble in the bucket, and moved the tank for a few days.

When I re-set up the tank, and put the media back in the sump, I did change out the gravel to a better sand for Cichlids.

I filled the tank 2 days ago, and the reading 2 days later are:

PH : 76 to 7.8
Ammonia : 0.50ppm
Nitrite : 1.0ppm
Nitrate : 5.0ppm

The Nitrite's concern me most.

Any idea did I mini cycle for a few days ? Or did I re-strart the cycle and am in the middle and now have to wait to convert to Nitrates, when Nitrites hit 0 and do a major water change then add fish?

That's what I'm hoping for. I think by removing the existing gravel, and putting sand I lost allot of bacteria living in the gravel.

I'll watch it and wait for the Nitrites to drop to 0

This gives me more time for my Cichlid Stocking anyways that you have been helping me out with

I just need to make sure I have a list of fish ready to go once it's cycled

The 3' tank is really the limiting factor
