I agree, I'd put the intake at the opposite end to the spray bar, that's how I have always done it and the only "dead spot" I have in my tank is under the spray bar.
I don't agree with throwing the brown stuff down the toilet though
It's GREAT fertiliser for your plants/trees. I pour it around my fruit trees (that are in pots) :thumb:
