How quickly will unfertilized eggs get fungus? I have a "pair" of rainbow cichlids I thought were both female and they are guarding a huge bunch of eggs. They may not be both female but I figure if the eggs fungus over I'll know they are.

Usually you can tell if they are unfertilized after 48 hours or so, they will be white instead of clear/brown.

Great, thanks. It's only been 24 hours so far, so we'll see soon I guess.

Also they don't always get that far. The parients can tell if they have been fertilized and will often eat them if they haven't been. So they don't alway last long enough to get fungus on them.
