I'm getting ready to do a new Mbuna set-up (I'm new at Mbunas but not at fishkeeping) and I was wondering if I needed to do anything particular with my rock prior to putting it in the tank ? So far I've rinsed them under tap water and let them dry.

Here is a picture of what I bought : https://zupimages.net/viewer.php?id=20/46/iea8.jpeg

The white rocks have buffering properties, the grey ones don't (I plan on buying more of the white rocks).

Thank you !

If they were sold by a fish store for a fish tank you could scrub thoroughly with a wire brush under hot water.

If they came from somewhere else, it may depend on how you clean them.

Remember white rocks will not stay white for long in the tank.
