Tap water is:
GH= 11
KH= 9
pH= 8.0

Should I be adding buffers for my Tanganyika Cichlids? I've used Epsom Salt & Baking Soda in the past but I am in a new location (house & city) and wondering if it is necessary with these parameters coming out if the tap.

Jed, I use buffers but honestly haven`t tested my tap water. I don`t know if they are needed but my fish Tropheus thrive with them.

What fish are you keeping?

What general area of Virginia do you live?

No need to use buffers with those readings. Repeat the tests with some water that has been in a container out of the tap for 24 hours before testing.

I would not add anything. Acclimate your fish gradually.
