I use water pumps from harbor freight
https://www.harborfreight.com/lawn-gard ... 63313.html

with tubing from from hardware store,
https://www.lowes.com/pl/Tubing-hoses-P ... 22036sorry im not sure the size, cup determines that which by the way...

rubbermaid sports cup

I add either Aquaclear Foam filter inserts
https://www.amazon.com/Aquaclear-70-Gal ... 3Y72QE848F

or Polyfil
https://www.amazon.com/Fairfield-FAIPFT ... B000YZ7G44

I insert tubing into the opening on the rubbermaid cup lid,and attach that tubing to the fitting for the water pump. It works pretty good, Mind you,I already had the rubbermaid cup, foam, polyfil, and tubing. so it was much cheaper for me. I only needed to spend the 18$ for the pump, which has been running for 2 years now.I had it in my 125 as a supplemental filter. Simply a backup in case any of my 2 canisters went down.

I forgot to mention the KEY!!!

You will need to punch or drill small holes on the bottom of the rubbermaid cup I did 3 rows of about 10 all around the bottom and a few on the very underside of the cup too!!

water is pulled in from the holes by the pump, then expelled back into the tank from there.

getting tubing that'll fit snug inside the bottle opening on it's lid is also very important.

You could do this same method with smaller tubing, and any cleaned out Soda container (2liter),or even one of those funny costco style rectangular milk jugs, and larger tubing
