I have a 44 gallon tank and the fish store told me that I could house a Dimidiochromis compressiceps and that HE would not grow the stated "10-12". He would grow the size of the tank. Is this a correct statement?
Growth of the fish is related to water quality not quantity. In fact fish are one animal that as a group never stop growing (a few exceptions aside), though they do slow down as they get older. This wive's tale has been perpetuated by LFS and is just as bad as the 1" per gallon "rule".
