I have a 105 gallon tank with 6 blood parrot cichlids, one electric yellow cichlid, 3 silver dollars and a common pleco. About two weeks ago, my electric yellow cichlid developed what looks like a large white zit on the base of the tail. There is a bulge around the white extrusion as well. My local fish store recommended melafix as they thought it might be bacterial. But a full course of dosing has done nothing and, after getting a second opinion, a second store thought it might be viral and recommended Fishkeeper. Does anyone know what this might be, how it can be treated and whether it makes sense to quarantine the fish after 2 weeks (complicated by the fact I don't have a second large tank to use)?
Thank you in advance!
