So here's my question....
I have 3 JD's in my 55 gal. They're probably 4-5 inches.
A couple of days ago the 2 largest were going at it pretty heavily. Jaw locking and all that fun stuff. The smallest of the 3 moved into the corner where 1 of bigger one's has been hanging around. The JD has turned almost completely black, which I heard is a sign of breeding.
The only thing thats concerning me is that by the anus there is a little puff sticking out there. I've had convicts breed before, and I know what the eggs look like, but is that eggs I'm seeing by the anus?
I tried taking pictures, nearly impossible with my camera.
Any info is appreciated.
BTW...the color of this "puff" is not white, rather more of a creamish color.

Congrats on the spawn!

I take it this is the creamy "puff" you saw near the anus?

I imagine it was the females breeding tube fully extended as shown above on my electric blue female. At times its hard to sex JDs, but when you see that you know for certain you have a female.

Good luck with everything! :thumb:
