Ok, my 20 gallon is setup and all ready to go. I put a filter (AC 30) from the 10g that was running for like 6 months on the 20g friday. I've been putting pure ammonia in every day but haven't tested the water. I use some driftwood and rocks with plants attatched to it from an established tank along with some shells and vals. I didn't put any gravel from the est. tank cuz I'm going with sand, don't want to mix it in.

Should the tank already be cycled and ready for fish or should I keep treating it with ammonia for the next week or two till I see a spike in ammonia and nitrite?

Thanks for any help!

Even with using an old filter, most tanks will still go through a small cycle. Using a seeded filter with a new tank usually takes me about 2 weeks to cycle. I'd check the ammonia and nitrite every other day or so until they both read zero for a couple consecutive readings.
