At this point in my fishless cycle, it takes 30 hours for the filter bacteria to convert 1-2 ppm ammonia to nitrate. I see a lot of people recommending that this should be 24 hours. 24 hours after I add ammonia it drops to 0, but there is still nitrite. However, 6 hours later nitrite drops to 0. Do you think that 30 hours to process this amount of ammonia is fast enough for me to just go ahead and buy fish? I am not planning to fully stock the tank, but would buy 4-6 adult fish.

I would dose it with 2-4 ppm and see how long it takes to process; when it can do that in 24 hours you are golden.
