Hello again,

I have A colony of 24 Ilangi. My question is, first I started this colony from fry ranging from 1" to 1.5" and there kept in a 75gal. I understand that while holding they continue to eat. What I'm trying to find out is does there throat swell up like mbuna's? How will I know if 1 is holding?

Thanks,

Yes their throat will swell up, but it is not as obvious as a mbuna... They will continue to eat like you said, but very little... From my experience when a tropheus holds she will kinda lay low a little bit... Not like always hiding, but almost like she is not in the mainstream of the colony so much... Hope that helps and does not confuse you even more.
