Hello all! I have a female parrott cichlid that is easily 9-10 years old. She's been healthy her whole life, but in the past few days she's been swimming (floating) vertically, face pointed downward, at the bottom of the tank. At first I thought maybe she was hung up in the plants in the corner of the tank so I kind of helped her to a new postion, but then she immediately did the same thing in another area of the tank. It's a 20 gallon tank and she's the only fish in there, her "mate" died about 5 years ago.

Any advice or suggestions will be greatly appreciated!

Sounds like she's just old, but, what are your water parameters? What is your cleaning routine? Did you add/remove anything from the tank? What is your feeding routine?

A water change with a good dechlorinator is always a good idea (unless your source water is contaminated).
