I went back home to Florida and discovered a great deal of dead coral on the beach, some in huge chunks. I am considering adding this to my 75 gallon African Cichlid tank as my substrate is crushed coral from the Gulf and I believe it will aid in increasing my PH to the levels African Cichlids love.
I wanted to get some feedback before doing so... any thoughts on this?
How should I prepare it if it is a good idea?

I'd do it only if you like the look. It won't add significantly to the buffer/pH because it can't dissolve fast enough to "calcify" the 50% new water you add each week.

Also it's very rough and fish bashing around the tank will be prone to injuries.

If you want to increase you PH, put some in the filter. Works well and no risk to the fish.

Not sure about boiling it....
