I recently bought a 90g with a costom built stand and canopy. The guy had no lights and no glass under the the canopy. Should he have???
The hinges were kinda rusty and the would had some moisture contact. Do you usually put a coat of some water resistant stuff (forgot what it's called, poly-somethin) on the inside to prevent this or put glass tops underneath??

I could take them from my 55 because it didn't come with lighting or tops, just the canopy.
Will this work even though the price of the 55 will go down?
I would really not like to spend extra $$ on lighting and tops.

What do i do :-?

I don't have any glass lids under my canopy, its open on the back only. Just a little evaporation but no big deal. With no lids you also get some water ripples from the lights.

Lights:
go to home depot or menards for all your stuff. I got a $8.50 40" ballast without a on/off switch, a lamp timer to turn the light on and off $3.50, a set of 6500K bulbs from HD for $8 and I was set to go!

Thats about all you need to get it all up and running....if you decide you would like lids in the future then go get them later.
