I have a large comp that as begun to dig out a deep pit in the sand in between a boester bell and a large rock. The pit even goes in under the rock. I was curious if this would be a male or female trait and does it mean that it is trying to spawn

Not sure, mine don't dig very much. Do you have any pics of this fish?
