I have a proven pair of spawning Yellow Head Comps in there own tank, and I have had several spawns from them
However, the last 3 spawns all the babies have vanished
The last batch was today when I was going to move the cave they were in into their own tank and grow them
Well after work I come and all the babies are gone...AGAIN

Would the mother be eating them?
Or would the babies all leave the tank and get eaten by the father
There are no other fish in the tank

Any ideas?

The parents will eat them...raise them in another tank.

Its too bad because I was just ready to move them to another tank today...I was one day too late
Lesson learned
Will not wait this long next time

Move the shell they hatch in before they start exiting the shell.

that is what I should have done
i missed by one day and wouldnt you know it cost me a batch of comps
well hopefully when they get another spawn I will not hesitate
however the female is always in there and its hard to get her out of there while the babies are in

Take her and the babies into the maternity tank in the shell. Maybe let them settle for a day. Then remove the shell. Rinse with tank water repeatedly to get all the fry.

Once the shell is gone you can remove the mom.
