Morning all - I have a 55g Mbuna tank with 22 adults and 3 small fry, running 2 x AquaClear 110's and a Penguin Bio-Wheel 200.
I was wondering about mixing in different kinds of filtration media in the AC110's. I use their foam and I add my own carbon in a cheese cloth bag. I don't like AC's bio-filter media so I don't use it. I have left over space in the filter container and have been thinking about using some sort of water polishing filter in there or some other sort of filtration media just to more efficiently utilize the filtration space I have.
Have you guys and gals ever mixed and matched filter media? Results? Pros / cons? Do's / don'ts? You get the idea. Now spill your guts and give me the scoop.
