I feel stupid asking this, but do the males of a species ever hold eggs? What I thought was a male, due to the vertical barring and eggspot, looks like it is holding. I have eight total of the species, six are about 2 1/2 inches and two are newer at about 1 inch. The new two are definitely female. Two of the older ones are definitely male with nice coloring. The other four, I don't know. Pretty sure one of these is a female, then there are two dark ones and then this one. I have/had a pair of electric yellow. I thought the female was holding as well until I found her about 98% dead behind a rock. I moved her out of the tank and checked for fry and did not see any. She died shortly thereafter. Today I saw at least two yellow fry under a rock.

Males do not hold eggs. Hara are difficult to sex (until you see them holding eggs) throughout their lives. Females can look like males (except usually not the blue/white color with bars) and males can look like females.
