Juveniles should be "full" color, they don't grow into their color other than males turning blue and black with maturity. So if they have settled in from the transport, they should be colorful.

They do look pale in the picture, but they look consistent and I've seen worse. Not sure if they are a mix, wait until a male colors up. Not sure if the white substrate and bright light makes them paler.

Could just be mediocre quality Saulosi, even if pure the fish can get duller over generations of breeding. Unfortunately they are endangered in the wild.

No black fins. The black on the lower fins may be hard to distinguish but there should be a discernable black dorsal stripe on a Labidochromis caeruleus.

Are they showing any dark vertical barring when they are stressed? Looking back at photos of mine when they were juvenile, the yellow was a bit less solid, but they weren't as pale.

How big would you say they are?
